Only a few years after commencing business in 1991, Thriving Enterprises saw the opportunity in an emerging beverage trend. They began offering Australian roasters coffee bags in Stand-Up (Doy) and Side Gusseted formats printed to their own brand design, and progressively introduced many options to create a wide bag range. Thriving has since grown to become a leading supplier of coffee bags to the Australian and NZ Coffee Roasting market, equally serving larger corporate buyers as well as medium and small sized roasters. The Challenge of Coffee Packaging
Coffee packed shortly after roasting presents some packaging issues. The roast needs to be protected from oxidative forces that destroy the aroma and flavour, and secondly, freshly roasted beans release significant amounts of CO₂ gas that needs to be vented without oxygen re-entering. To overcome these two issues Thriving provides bags with a choice of suitably structured barrier laminates, and proven one-way filtered membrane valves used world wide to vent the CO₂ gas while the coffee is fresh.
